New Life!
Spring has arrived! New flowers are blooming, and the presence of bees and wasps, looking for a place to call home have increased. If you are in the south, you will rapidly notice the smell of rich seasoning and spices from crawfish boil mix, and specifically in Texas, the beginning of the rodeo. I love the pinkish buds from the Crepe Myrtles, and the blooming of Lilies and Snapdragons. The warm feeling of a gentle southern breeze blowing through your hair, and the smell of fresh air in combination with sneezing from pollen, gives way to new life. I decided to capture pictures of my beloved Lilies that were planted in our flowerbed this weekend.
In all essence, the beginning of Spring symbolizes the beginning of life! I have always loved Spring, and have fond memories of planting flowers or gardening with my grandmother. The gruesome process of death on God’s creation ultimately creates beauty, and you learn to appreciate death of the old, and look forward to life in the new.
Isn’t that the irony of life and living? Dying to our old selves and ways of life including hatred, abuse, anger, racism, jealousy, competition, judgment and most importantly pride? Only to find life when we submit ourselves to the will of God? In therapy, this viewpoint is crucial with the populations served because of today’s outlook on life. We are transformed by the renewing of our minds through God’s word and can focus on changing our ways. It is not an easy process or a microwaved option, but in due time, growth will happen, just like the flowers and buds on trees that have matured.
